4. Chairman's report for 2004

Mr Brindle gave a report on a small number matters briefly outlined in Appendix ‘A’.

5. Treasurer's report for 2004 - Approval of audited accounts

The treasurer had already prepared a detailed report that he read out at the meeting. The main area of discussion in his report was the need to spend less in 2005 as the club had been in deficit for the past three years. The treasurer aimed to secure a reserve of around £10,000. He asked that all secretaries to spend carefully during 2005 and would not be allowed to go over budget. He also asked them to consider ways of generating income from their players and other sources.

This report would be available to view on the Intranet web-site in the coming weeks outlined in Appendix ‘B’.

6. Secretary's report for 2004

The secretary had prepared a written report based on submissions from sports sections and highlights were read out. This report would be available to view on the Intranet web-site in the coming weeks and outlined in Appendix ‘C’.

i. One representative of divisional clubs - DC Ian Stirling - No other nominations - duly re-elected.

10. Election of representative to Police Sport UK Regional Committee - Inspector Zsigmond - No other nominations - duly elected.

11. Confirmation by secretaries of 2004 sports section and other club accounts as audited

The treasurer had already circulated to each sports section secretary a copy of their 2004 account. He asked that they check these final accounts for accuracy then sign and return them immediately after this meeting. These would then be sent on to the auditor as part of the audit process.

12. Final agreement of 2005 budget allocations submitted and scrutinised in December 2004

Budgets had been previously discussed and provisionally agreed at an earlier budgeting meeting held in December. These figures had been circulated to sports secretaries in January and also were circulated at the meeting today.

There were some cuts made. Mr Brindle reiterated the fact that any cuts had been made with much thought and consideration.

13. Appointment of auditors and bankers

Moore and Smalley duly re-appointed.

14. Divisional ‘per capita levy’

The 2005 levy needed to be set. £1.50 was the levy imposed for 2004. It was agreed to impose a £1.50p levy for 2005. This was thought to be an appropriate amount considering the PSUK levy was now set at around £1.00 per police officer.

15. Club Internet Web-Site

The secretary was pleased to announce that a new Club Web-site had been revised and had been back on-line since 14 December 2004 after an absence of about year. The site now conformed to the corporate ‘Intranet’ style and appearance. He asked that sports sections submit as much information and reports as possible including pictures. These would be uploaded on a regular basis. He reminded the meeting that the site could be viewed on the world wide web at www.policesport.co.uk.

16.  ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ Award

The management committee had received three nominations for the 2004 award. Those received were all of a high standard. However, the committee voted unanimously that DC Ian Hill of the Golf Section was the worthy recipient of the 2004 award. Ian was an accomplished golfer and had recently become secretary of the Golf Section.

A detailed report on his achievements dating back over the last 15 years had been submitted. Extracts were read out by the Chairman. The full report would be available on the Club web-site.

The ‘Ormerod Trophy’ would be formally presented to him in the coming months.
