Lancashire Constabulary Sports & Social Club - Inter-Divisional 10k Road Race

An early pilot event took place in Chorley in 1986. Five years on it was formally reinstated five years later, in 1991, by PC Steven Broadbent who has continued to organise this annual competition ever since.

Most of the events have taken place in Lancaster, incorporated within the annual Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic Club 10k Road Race. These events have taken runners along a rural course through the Slyne and Hest Bank areas.

In 1995 and 1996 by way of change, the events took place from Hutton Hall. The course was through Hutton, Longton and back along the by-pass.

In 2004 the Lancaster course changed and the runners were taken two laps along a flat course along Morecambe and Torrisholme Roads.

In 2006 the course changed again to a new venue, the Farmhouse Tavern taking in a course along the Lune river estuary, Heysham by-pass and Snatchems.

Next Event

The next event will take place on Wednesday 20 July 2011 at the Lancaster & Morecambe AC, Salt Ayre Centre, Doris Henderson Way, Lancaster.

This popular mid-summer 6.2 mile road race traverses a new course along the cycleway toward Snatchem's and the Lune estuary. The event now attracts around 80 runners from the Lancashire force.

Runners of all standards are encouraged to take part in this event. Course times for police club runners vary between 33 and 70 minutes.

Any member of the club interested in taking part in this event should contact SC Steve Broadbent at Lancaster by e-mail. Entry forms will be automatically sent out by e-mail to those who have taken part in the last 5 years.

The last event took place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 22 July 2009 from the Farmhouse Tavern, Morecambe Road, Lancaster.
