North West Police Badminton Championships

 

The North West Police Badminton Championships are to be held from 12pm to 4pm on Friday 14th January 2011. The venue this year is Markland Hill Tennis Club, Victoria Road, Bolton. BL1 5AN

 

The entry is restricted to Police Officers, Police Staff, PCSO retired police officers and members of the Special Constabulary. I think this covers just about everyone. The only other restriction is that you must be a current member of your forces sports and social club. If you are not a member at the moment you can obtain application forms from your force representatives.

 

The North West Tournament will be in the following events.

 

Open Mens Singles

Open Ladies Singles

Open Mens Doubles

Open Ladies Doubles

Open Mixed Doubles

Veteran Mens Doubles

Veteran Ladies Doubles

Veteran Mixed Doubles

Super Veteran Mens Doubles

Super Veteran Ladies Doubles

Super Veteran Mixed Doubles

Senior Veteran Mens Doubles

Senior Veteran Ladies Doubles

Senior Veteran Mixed Doubles.

 

Open events are for any age. The veteran events are for Ladies 35yrs and over, men 40yrs and over. The super veteran events are for Ladies 40yrs or over, men 45yrs and over. The senior vets are for Ladies 45yrs and over, men 50yrs and over. Competitors can only enter a maximum of 3 events. In all doubles events both players must be from the same force.

 

Winners and runners up in this competition will then qualify to represent the North West Forces at the British Championships which this year are to be held in York from 1st April to 4th April 2011.

 

The cost of the tournament is £6 per player per event which is payable on the day. Entering couldn’t be easier just send me an E mail with which events you wish to enter. If you want to enter an event but cannot find a partner please state partner wanted and I will do my best to find a partner for you, but this cannot be guaranteed.

On Saturday 6 October 2007 the British Police badminton team played against England Under 19's at Luton with the following results:-

Police Sport UK Regional Championships

 

This year the Badminton Championships will be held at Ribby Hall Holiday Village, Wrea Green near Blackpool on 16 March 2007. It will run from 11am to 4pm. It is open to competitors from Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Cumbria and Isle of Man.

 

Winners of this event will then qualify to represent the North West Region in the National finals in April.

 

All members of the sports and social club are allowed to enter. If you are playing in any of the doubles events however you must enter with a partner from your own force area. Each competitor is limited to entering a maximum of three events. The New scoring system playing up to 1 will be used in all events.

You can now only enter a maximum of 3 events in the Nationals. You can enter more in the Regionals but you won’t be able qualify . There is also a ‘Super Vet’s’ Mixed men over 45 ladies over 40. Any one who wishes to enter but cannot find a partner can contact PC Hope to arrange.

 

The closing date is 18 February 2005 but this is flexible and I will accept entries via E-mail.

 

Those who qualify will represent the north-west forces in the National finals in Scotland later in the year.
