Bowling - Crown Green Sports Section
By Secretary PC Howard Kershaw
PC Jason Moore from Preston, PS Adrian Adams from Preston and PC Howard Kershaw from Skelmersdale contested the regional PSUK event in Cheshire. Howard took an early exit and Jason lost in the quarter finals. Adrian played well all day and played in the final against a local Cheshire bowler. Local green knowledge won the day and in a close final Adrian was narrowly beaten. Both Jason and Adrian won through to the national finals in Barnsley. Again both played well, Jason reaching the quarter finals again and Adrian losing in the semi finals.
All three also represented the UK police team in four fixtures last year in the British Parks League. This is a well established and highly competitive event played in by all the best bowlers in the country. The team finished 3rd out of the 5 teams in Division 5. An excellent result for a nationally recognised event.

PC Jason Moore and PS Adrian Adams, both from Preston and PC Howard Kershaw, from Skelmersdale, represented Lancashire at the North-West regional qualifier at Weaverham Bowls Club in June. There were a total of 48 competitors, with Merseyside, GMP, Cheshire and Cumbria sending players. The standard was very high and Adrian won several games through to the final. He narrowly lost a close final, losing to a GMP officer. Both Jason and Adrian qualified for the national finals in Barnsley, but both unfortunately lost out in the early rounds.
Jason, Adrian and Howard have once again represented the British Police team for 2008 in the British Parks League. The team played four fixtures during the course of the summer as far a field as Angelsey and Doncaster. Another solid season consolidated the Police Team in a very popular event.
