Northwest Regional Coarse Fishing Competition

The above event took place on Thursday 18 June 2009 at Rosemary Wood Fishery, Southport with the following results:-

Team competition

1^st Cheshire Constabulary.

2^nd Lancashire Constabulary.

3^rd Merseyside Constabulary.

Individual placing

2^nd overall - Insp Graeme Fearn - Pennine Division.

A windy cold day greeted the competitors for this annual event. This weather made the fishing difficult. Cheshire lads exacted revenge on last year’s winners which was us the Lancashire Constabulary team. They did it by one point or put another way, by one fish.

Lancashire Constabulary coarse fishing section team has earned a national reputation for being one of the teams that are hard to beat. To maintain and enhance this reputation we are actively seeking new anglers to come and fish with us. A winter series of matches is being run by the secretary Ian Bateson. Teams from the North West are invited to take part. They are very informal and a great way for those interested in the coarse match fishing to come along and have a do, no matter what their level of expertise is.  The first match this season is being held at Wrightington Fishery, Wrightington, near Wigan on Thursday 6 November 2008 and the draw is at 9 am. The second match will be held on Thursday 11 December 2008, venue to be arranged.
