DS 1660 Richard McCutcheon (FMIT) and PC 2249 Ben Dowling (Eastern)  represented the “British Police Cricket Club” on their annual tour of the Home Counties in June, with fixtures against Essex CCC, the Club Cricket Conference, the Army, the Royal Navy and the RAF.

 

Police Sport UK Cricket Competition:

 

In the first round of the 2009 PSUK Cricket Competition, Lancashire played Dyfed-Powys Police at Ammanford CC, Carmarthenshire, on Thursday 21 May – with the following result:

 

Lancashire 196 for 9 (45 overs) (PC 3198 Gareth Evans 103, PCSO 7704 Adam Jackson 45).

Dyfed – Powys 197 for 5

 

Dyfed – Powys won by 5 wickets.

 

Lancashire got a ‘bye’ in the first round of the ‘Plate’ competition; and in the second round have been drawn against North Wales Police. This game is to be played at Prestatyn CC on Wednesday 29 July, 1.30pm start. It is hoped to select a team from the following members of staff. One day’s Special Leave is available, subject to the exigencies of the service and at the discretion of Divisional/Departmental Commanders. On Thursday 24 July the quarter-final of the Police Sport UK Cricket Trophy was played between Nottinghamshire Police and Lancashire Constabulary at Calverton Cricket Club, Nottingham.

 

Nottinghamshire won by 19 runs.

 

Nottinghamshire 266 all out (45 overs) (PC Matt McGuinness 9 overs, 5 for 35)

 

Lancashire 247 all out (PC Gareth Evans 111, PCSO Graham Lloyd 42).

However, Lincolnshire conceded the game and we have now progressed to the quarter-final stage of the competition. Anthony Walker Cup Competition

 

This competition is to be played between Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire police forces, in memory of Anthony Walker, who was killed in a racist incident in Huyton.

 

It is anticipated that the Chief Constable of each force will play, leading a team representative of the diverse mix of officers and staff from each respective force. The emphasis is more on ‘taking part’ than on any particular standard of ‘professional’ cricket.

 

This event is to be held at the Riversdale Police Club, Merseyside, at 1pm on Saturday 5 July 2008 and will include refreshments, presentations and speeches. If any member of staff is interested in participating please contact DCI Neil Gregson (412855) or PC Mebs Ahmed (412441)

On Monday 31 July 2006 Dyfed-Powys Police were due to play Lancashire Constabulary at Ammanford Cricket Club, Swansea, in the quarter-final of the 2006 PSUK Cricket Trophy. However, persistent heavy rain resulted in the abandonment of the fixture, and in a 'bowl out' to determine the winners, Lancashire lost 2 - 1.

In the first round of the 2005 Police Sport UK Cricket Knockout Trophy, Lancashire Constabulary has been drawn at home to play Nottinghamshire Police, the 2004 champions.

 

This fixture has been arranged for Wednesday 11 May at Fleetwood Cricket Club, 12.30pm start. It is hoped to select a team from the following members of staff. One day’s Special Leave is available, subject to the exigencies of the service and at the discretion of Divisional / Departmental Commanders’:
