British Police Cricket Tournament

 

The below two officers have been selected to play for the ‘British Police Cricket Club’ in their annual ‘cricket week’ of fixtures against the Army, Navy, RAF, Club Cricket Conference and Essex County Cricket Club. These fixtures are to be played in the week of Monday 11 – Friday 15 June in the south east of England.

In the first round of the 2007 Police Sport UK Cricket Competition, Lancashire Constabulary played the Metropolitan Police at St. Annes CC on Thursday 10 May, with the following result.

 

Lancashire 136 all out (PC 2016 Cook 32; PC 3198 Evans 28)

 

Metropolitan 132 all out (DS 1660 McCutcheon 9 overs, 3 for 14; PC 1925 Sidgreaves 9 overs, 3 for 19).

 

Lancashire won by 4 runs.

Police Sport UK Cricket Competition

 

In the second round of the PSUK Cricket Competition, Lancashire Constabulary has been drawn against Dyfed-Powys Police (the current holders). This fixture has been arranged to be played at Ammanford CC, nr. Swansea, on Thursday 21 June, 1pm start. It is hoped to be able to select a team from the following members of staff. One days Special Leave is available, subject to the exigencies of the service and at the discretion of Divisional/Departmental Commanders. Players to meet at the HQ ‘skid pan’ at 7am.

Police Sport UK Cricket – Quarter-Final

 

On Monday 31 July 2006 Dyfed-Powys Police were due to play Lancashire Constabulary at Ammanford Cricket Club, Swansea, in the quarter-final of the 2006 PSUK Cricket Trophy. However, persistent heavy rain resulted in the abandonment of the fixture, and in a 'bowl out' to determine the winners, Lancashire lost 2 - 1.

On 28 June 2006 Lancashire Constabulary played Hampshire Police at Basingstoke CC, Hampshire, in the second round of the PSUK Trophy with the following results:-

 

Hampshire 171 for 8 (45 overs) (Neil Gregson 9 overs, 3 wickets for 41; Gareth Evans 4 overs 2 for 17, Andy Sidgreaves 9 overs, 4 maidens, 1 for 13)

 

Lancashire 175 for 6 (39 overs) (Gareth Evans 81 not out, Richard McCutcheon34 not out).

 

Lancashire won by 4 wickets.
