Fly Fishing Sports Section Activities & Features Here is a list of all the activities and fixtures arranged and attended by members of the Section in recent years. There are links to a further page or pages detailing information on the event both past and present. Annual Fixtures PSUK The section also competes in the PSUK regional qualifier event, both as a team and in the individual competition. This is usually held in June with the winners qualifying to compete in the national and international events the following year.
Regional and British Police Practice facilities are available to members at two Lancashire reservoirs at Sabden and Colne. These facilities are open to new members as well as a means of testing the water or renewing an interest. All interested parties should contact the club secretary by e-mail or telephone. Summary of Events April
Esthwaite Reservoir – Boat Match, Starting time 10am. This is a regular qualifier for entry into the team event run by Esthwaite water. Date to be confirmed but prior notification of attendance is required for entry details. May
Qualifier for team selection for the PSUK match for the number 1 region forces. This event mirrors the PSUK regional match and will be fished at Stocks Reservoir, Lancashire. Entry dates will be confirmed and it is open to all officers. June
The monthly competition is base at Rutland water and is a 3 day event organised by Pennine Division. This is an established event which involves 3 individual competitions and one overall competition. The event is held during the second week of June and confirmation and finance must be in advance via the Pennine Secretary, Dave Milburn. August
Cheshire Constabulary will be competing against Lancashire during August at a Northwest reservoir. This is an 8 hour competition based on limit and time bonus penalties. Location will be amended when set later in the year. September/October
Police National Pairs Competition and the regional open championship are held in these 2 months. The pairs competition is held at Draycote and is limited to 39 teams with entry fees paid in advance. Lancashire will look to send 2 teams this year and any interested parties should forward their details to the club secretary. The Regional match will be identified later in the year. Other Section Events Inter-Divisional Championships A yearly open competition is run for all members on an individual basis for competition in the Chief Constables cup. This is now a regional open and is a day bank match which can accommodate 45 entrants. Competition dates are confirmed on confirmation of the annual budget in March.
