Golf Sports Section Introduction The County Golf section is split into two distinct parts. The first part concerns the medals that are played over the summer and these are open to any golfer with a handicap, either club or society. They are played on courses that suit all standards of golfer and all are made welcome. The second part of the section concerns the county team . The team plays against other forces and organisations on a local, regional and national level. The team is generally made up of ten players and selection is done on handicap and form. Over the recent years the team has had considerable success at all levels and competition for places is keenly fought. The broad message is that if you have never played in the team and wish to be considered , then play in the medals and let us get to know you. If we don't know how good you are then we can't pick you. Players in the medals range from handicaps of 1 up to maximum so don't feel intimidated or that you're not good enough to compete. Turn up and play with your mates the first time and see that we don't bite. Golf is one of the few sports that has a handicap system that should put everyone on a level playing field, unless you play at Longridge !!!! The events will be posted on the intranet for next year so everyone will know about them in good time so you'll have no excuse not to play in them. The secretary would like to hear from members of the force who want to play for the Golf Section. Contact Secretary: PC 3185 Chris Walsh
