Headquarters Facilities and Activities What Headquarters/ 'G' Division Club has to offer Membership of HQ Sports & Social Club holds many benefits for employees of headquarters and G Division and their families. From evening entertainment, quizzes and bar facilities through to subsidised trips, excursions and even foreign travel. Also available are many sports and pastimes for people of all ages, abilities and fitness, ranging from the popular bowls, snooker and golf through racket sports and even sailing, each activity having its own secretary who is there to offer advice on how you can become involved. This year for example, the Tennis Section, as well as brand new balls as usual, is able to offer for use to members some newly purchased high quality rackets for use on the courts at HQ. Also available to borrow are bats and balls for use on the table tennis table on the gym balcony at the Training Centre. If you are interested contact the Tennis secretary, Robert Hilton, on extension 416029 who can arrange to lend the equipment. If you wish to find out about and gain enjoyment from other activities seek out the appropriate secretary or committee member or speak to the HQ Club secretary, Graham Banks on extension 416010. Do you want to organise or arrange a club facility or activity?
This is your club so why not come forward and arrange something! Any member of the club can come forward and arrange or request a new facility or activity. It may be a sports activity or a social outing. Funding will be provided subject to finance and committee approval. Keen, competitive sports person - or just want to get fit? The County Club have 25 sports sections representing some 40 sports. The aims are to recruit new members to compete, irrespective of standard. As long as you can play the sport at a reasonable level then there is probably a place in the team for you. Some sports sections may be happy to take on complete beginners, so long as you have a basic level of fitness or ability to compete - then the only way is up!!
