Flora
London Marathon 2001
The
national charity 'Whizz Kidz' has a number of guaranteed places for
the London Marathon. They are hoping to form a national police team, a
fund-raising initiative never undertaken before. A runner representing
each of the 43 UK police forces will take part each raising sponsorship
for the charity locally.
Any
member of the force who is contemplating competing in the event and may
wish to become the Lancashire Constabulary marathon representative should
contact Pc Steven Broadbent at Lancaster for further details. Ext 6675.

The
above event will take place on Sunday 20 August 2000. The event is
incorporated within the Glasgow City marathon and half marathon event that
takes place the same day.

Inter-Divisional
10K Road Race – Lancaster
Further
to previous weekly order item, the above event will take place from the Vale
of Lune Rugby Club, Lancaster on Wednesday 12 July 2000 starting at 7.15pm.
This
popular annual event attracted 85 members of the force in 1999. The course
is an undulating 6.2 miles along urban and rural minor roads of Slyne and
Hest Bank.
The
Lancaster & Morecambe Athletic Club, which attracts overall 300
participants, host the main open event.
Members
of all running standards are invited to participate in this event. There are
the usual inter-divisional prizes to be contended with a hot pot supper for
all finishers.
Entry
on the day is acceptable but pre-entry is preferred. Forms have now been
sent to all 1998 and 1999 competitors. Any member of the force interested in
competing should contact their respective divisional athletics

Track and Field Championships – Manchester
The
above event will take place at Stretford Athletic Stadium, Longford Park,
Manchester on Wednesday 28 June 2000.
A
variety of track and field events will be staged starting from 12 noon. Any
member of the force is invited to participate in this event.
The
event will include a men’s and veterans’ 5000 metres and women’s 3000
metres. These disciplines may appeal to middle distance runners.

Trials
will be held for the PAA Ladies British Police Hockey Squad at Cannock
Hockey Club, Staffordshire on Tuesday 5 September 2000.
