(Ext 6675) Flora London Marathon 2001 The national charity 'Whizz Kidz' has a number of guaranteed places for the London Marathon. They are hoping to form a national police team, a fund-raising initiative never undertaken before. A runner representing each of the 43 UK police forces will take part each raising sponsorship for the charity locally. Fallow HQ Administration 'Sports Personality of the Year' 1999 Each year the various sports sections of the Lancashire Constabulary Sports & Social Club make nominations to the main committee for this award. It is intended to recognise a member of the force, police or support staff who has achieved a particular outstanding sporting performance or performances. Alternatively it may be awarded to an individual who has given a high degree of dedication, time and commitment to his or her sport. This may be during the previous 12 months or over a number of years. 1999 Nomination Members of the force Swimming Section agreed to nominate PC 245 Arthur Marshall, HQ USU, as a worthy recipient of the award. PC Marshall has attended nearly every P.A.A. swimming championships from 1964 winning gold medals in many of these events. In recent years has still excelled in the sport winning 'masters' 40 and 50 plus gold titles in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly events. PC Marshall has also been in the winning team in many national lifesaving and water polo competitions over the years. The Chief Constable made a formal presentation of the award on Thursday 4 May 2000. The award is intended to recognise an individual who has achieved a particular outstanding sporting performance or performances during the past year or over a number of years. Alternatively, it may be awarded to someone who has given a high degree of dedication, time and commitment to a particular sport. Again, this may be during the past twelve months or over a number of years.
All nominations received will be scrutinised by the club management committee and an announcement will be made at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 29 February 2000.
Unsuccessful nominations from 1998 may be re-submitted for the award.
The report should be outlined on form G43 and should contain as much information as possible. The report may be sent either as 'hard copy'' or by internal e-mail.
