North West Coaching – Cottam Sports Arena, Preston

Structured cycle training events are being held on the third Saturday of each month (meeting at the arena at 9.45 a.m.) up to March 2002 comprising the following: -

• two hour ride to cater for all abilities

• two hour coaching session on various topics including:

• training techniques

• nutrition

• massage

• Each session costs £5

• All standards of cyclist welcome and any type of pedal cycle may be utilised for these coaching sessions.

The Football Club currently manage two teams, the men's and the veteran men.

The men's team participate every Saturday in the West Lancashire Football League and in the PAA National Cup.

The veteran's team participate in the PAA National Veterans Cup, and are currently holders of this trophy. All home games are played at Hutton.

PAA Marathon - Manchester

The above event will take place in Manchester on Sunday 23 September 2001. The event in incorporated within the Manchester Marathon event.

The 2nd County Medal will be held at Garstang Golf club on Tuesday 19th June, tee time from 2pm.

The above event will be held on Monday 18th June 2001 and will be hosted by Merseyside at a venue to be fixed. One day of sports leave will be allowed for this event.

The above event will take place in Birmingham on Wednesday 27 June 2001. Members of the force are invited to compete in this event irrespective of standard. There is a wide range of track or field disciplines being contested.

The above event will take place on the Isle of Arran on Saturday19 may 2001. The event in incorporated within the annual Goat Fell Race and is apparently not effected by the current foot and mouth crisis.

An inaugural multi-sport event open to all current and retired world services personnel - army, navy, airforce, police, fire, ambulance, prison and customs - was held at Christchurch, New Zealand between 31st March and 8th April 2001.

Inspector Wayne Howard from Staff Development Team, Training Centre achieved the following results at these games: -

The section is eager to recruit new members, from both police and support staff.
