However, Lincolnshire conceded the game and we have now progressed to the quarter-final stage of the competition. Fixture

Annual Inter-Divisional 10K Road Race

The above event will take place on Wednesday 23 July 2008 at Lancaster starting at 7.30pm. The race starts the Farmhouse Tavern, Scale Hall, Morecambe Road, Lancaster. This is a mildly undulating 6.2 mile course around the Lancaster and Oxcliffe area. The course will be similar last year and will take in part of the River Lune cycleway.

Any standard of runner may take part in this event. Entries are open to members of all Divisional Sports & Social Clubs and fees will be paid directly by your respective club.

Prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed individuals in the male, female and veteran male and female categories. ‘Inter-Divisional’ team prizes are also awarded. (Four to count)

Please give this event your best support. Last year we had more than 80 entries from across the force with 10k finishing times ranging from 35 to 69 minutes. Therefore runners all standards are welcome to participate.

Anthony Walker Cup Competition

This competition is to be played between Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire police forces, in memory of Anthony Walker, who was killed in a racist incident in Huyton.

It is anticipated that the Chief Constable of each force will play, leading a team representative of the diverse mix of officers and staff from each respective force. The emphasis is more on ‘taking part’ than on any particular standard of ‘professional’ cricket.

Mr Arthur Marshall won the 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m butterfly and gained second place in the 50m breast stroke

The northwest water polo team won the silver medal. The following officers playing: -

Masters age group B

PC Caroline Bell won the 50m breast stroke.

Masters age group F

CI Simister gained 1st place in the 50m freestyle, 1^st place in the 50m Backstroke, second place in the 50m breast stroke and third place in the 50m butterfly.

PC Plummer gained 4^th place in the 50m breast stroke and 5th place in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

As a result of the success, DC Clayton was chosen to represent the British police swimming team, with PC Plummer and PC Brooks selected to represent the British water polo team.

North West Regional Tennis Championships

The above event will take place on 30 May 2008 at Markland Hill Tennis Club, Bolton. Events include Men’s and Women’s singles & doubles as well as Mixed & Veteran’s doubles.

Those who are not on rest day will be allowed one day of sports leave to be granted to attend this event if exigencies of duty permit.

The County Club annual General Meeting will take place at 2.00pm on Thursday 13 March 2008 in the Connolly Room, Police Headquarters.
