Rugby Sports Section Introduction The Lancashire Constabulary Rugby Section has a long and proud history. The section has, over the years, provided a number of players who have represented the British police, such as Brendan Hanavan, who has had trials for Ireland. The full Lancashire side Neil Ashton, Mick Parker, Allan Wylie, The Anti-Assassins, Paul Dooley, Ian Tinsley and of course, Wade Dooley who represented England and the British Lions at Union. Also, Paddy O'Neill represented the Irish Exiles (Ireland trialist) and Lancashire. On the League front the County's Gary Lowe is the current British Police Captain. Gary is now enjoying a career break and is playing the sport in Austrailia. Others who represent the British Police RLA are Chris Holland from Bispham and Allan Clarke form Chorley. In addition, Neil Quirk from MCU, John Whitmore from Accrington and Jerry Sturgess from Southern Support Unit, have represented the Western Police Counties.
