Northern Police Cross Country League

Welcome to the

Northern Police Cross Country and Trail Leagues

The League formed in July 1967 and for over 57 years has attracted runners from most of the police forces across the north of England.

The league now stages 11/12 fixtures each season that starts in early October through to late March. Each fixture attracts between 25 and 80 runners.

In recent years the league has gone from strength to strength, despite the pressures of securing time-off from police duties. We have recently added an 11th and 12th fixture that add a better chance to attend the FIVE required fixtures to score maximum points!

Due too falling numbers we decided to suspend the 'Trail' League. It was felt that we may have too many fixtures on offer but will simply continue to 'boulster' the original Winter Cross Country League.

NPCCL Fixture #2 - North Wales - Friday 17 October 2025

Starting at - 1330 hours.

Pre-Race information from Nick Jones, NWP.

The League are pleased to return to North Wales, the most Westerly Force of the Northern Police League!

The event is again being kindly being coordinated by Nick Jones and proudly assisted by the North Wales Police Sports Association Team.

Of course, we were last in Wales in March 2025 for the PSUK Nationals, when NWP hosted an absolutely fabulous race at Gwrych Castle.

However....our previous NPCCL fixture was in September 2019 at Police HQ. Where has the time gone!!!! (See picture)

Venue:

Bryn Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay (adjacent to Police HQ)

Located just off the A55, leave at Junction 22 for Old Colwyn. Turn left onto Rotary way and drive up to the roundabout where you take the 4th exit on to A547 Colwyn Bay.

Take your first right off the A547 and Police Headquarters will be on your right.

Car Parking:

There is car parking at HQ and the use of change rooms.

Registration:

Registration/Race start is on the field adjacent to HQ. Race numbers will be issued.

Post-Race:

Post race refreshments will be available in the HQ canteen.

The course:

4 laps (about 5 miles) of the soft bits of Parc Eirias plus some woodland antics (a figure of 8 through some trees)

Grassy, undulating course – it’s a bit squishy in places. There is a tarmac path for a short distance.

Finally:

Remember this is a Friday Fixture that is a NWP training day so will hopefully ensure best attendance from NWP.

If you wish to participate in the League please contact your Force representative who will liaise with you over transport to attend each fixture or you may chose to travel direct.

We now have an entry system and you may enter either up to six or all 12 fixtures at the start of the season. Just follow the Book it Zone links below.

It is possible to enter your own local 'Host' fixture and not compete in the other fixtures. You will just need to pay £4 on-line or on the day. If you intend to enter more than one fixture then we ask you complete a six or 12 fixture on-line entry.
