Northern Police Cross Country League - 2026/2027 Season

A big thank you to Nick Jones, Craig Jones and their team of helpers and marshals for staging our first fixture of the season at Colwyn Bay Police HQ.

Fine sunny weather was had to compliment a very nice, but slightly muddy course with magnificent views of the coast.

A good turn-out, with 34 competitors taking part. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported.

The ladies well dominated the front of the field! Eleanor Ashcroft (North Wales) ran a magnificent race winning overall with Ben Garnett (North Wales) 2nd. Kirstie Drakeford (Fire Service - Humberside) was 3rd overall and Natalie Hewitt (Cheshire) 4th.

Light refreshments were served in the Police HQ Canteen afterwards with prizes awarded to the North Wales Runners in their local Championships.

Results are posted below.

The next fixture will be hosted by Cumbria Police at Dalemain, on Wednesday 21 October 2026 - Details will be posted here soon.

There are 13 more fixtures to go before the end of March so plenty to go for!

Fixture 2 - 21 October 2026 - Dalemain, Penrith, Cumbria

A big thanks to Graham Chadwick and Richard Mavin for hosting a fantastic Cumbria Fixture.

Thanks to Phil Corris for doing the time-keeping and Richard Mavin marshalling and taking pictures.

Fine, sunny weather, the nice Autumnal scenery and a fairly dry 5.7 mile course made for a great afternoon of running.

We had Tony Oliver (Cleveland) and Tom Smith (Lancashire) who battled for 1st place, with Tony winning by just two seconds! Ciara Ellis ( West Yorkshire) was our 1st lady and 3rd overall.

Nice tomato soup and a roll served to all guests in the cafe after the race, wrapped up an excellent day!

Thank you to Dalemain for allowing us to host our fixture!
