Course
New course in 2014 - nice running and good post race meal! Three lap course
in park suitable for spikes.
This is a three lap course with each lap just under
two miles in length. The race starts adjacent to the athletics
track (HQ of Stockport Harriers) and initially follows a flat
section through the park before a long medium decent. The decent
takes runners to a large field where the course follows a couple of
technical turns before the start of a long gradual climb which ends
with a short but very steep section. The remainder of the lap is
flat and follows a muddy section of path back to the start.
Facilities
Changing and showers available at track where drinks can be
purchased.
Post Race Meal
A post race meal will be provided at
the track.
Directions to Venue
From junction 27 on the M60 proceed up the A626 (St Mary’s Way)
(signposted for Marple). Go through one set of lights & up the hill, turning
left at the next set of lights into Hall Street (West Way Nissan Garage, on the
right). A petrol station will be on the left, immediately after it, turn left
into Turncroft Lane. Follow the road round a right hand bend and continue to
follow the road to the Park entrance which is on another right hand bend. There
is a small car park at the park entrance which is suitable for a minibus. If
this car park is full continue along Turncroft Lane for another 400m and turn
left at the community centre and continue under the height restriction barriers
into the larger car park. Park near the pedestrian exit at the far right of the
car park. No competitors vehicles are to enter the park.
The headquarters for the event is at Stockport Harriers Track in Woodbank park.
If you have parked at the park entrance continue walking along the path into
the Woodbank Park, passed the memorial to animals killed in military service on
the left, take the second path on the right, just beofre you get to a building
on the left and the track is further along the path on the left. From the
large car park. Go through the pedestrian exit onto onto Park lane and turn left
and the entrance to the park is a short distance straight on, continue into the
park and along the path. The track is on the right.
