To access Cowes on the Isle of Wight you will need to board a ferry either on foot or by car/minibus. The best Port of embarkation is Southampton for this location. From Cowes it is a 15 minute walk to registration up hill. When booking your ferry please allow for this time.

Example: car/mpv and 4 person day return 27. Ferry depart 0900hrs arrives Cowes 1000hrs. Foot passenger only 8.20

Red funnel provide a Redjet fast foot passenger ferry service as well via following the same link. The redjet runs every half hour and takes 25 mins a crossing arriving in West Cowes. Passenger fares are currently at 23.50 a day return.

The below link shows you were to find the ferry port and local parking should you wish to travel across as a foot passenger.

In the event that you choose to stay on the Island or travel by car and access the Island from other ports at Lymington or Portsmouth please use one of the below links to access ferry information.

The organiser is in negotiations with the ferry companies to seek a 15% discount on those entering the marathon. I will up date you on this information as soon  as I get any further notice.

Southampton is serviced by a local airport, train, bus stations and motorway network and is easily accessible.

The airport has a train station immediately outside and it is a short trip into Southampton Central station. http://www.southamptonairport.com/to-from-the-airport/

If anyone chooses to fly I may be able to assist in collection from the airport to accomodation of your choice on the day before but I will not be able to provide transport on the day of the race as I be engaged in other organising matters. Please contact me if you wish to discuss this option. I will try my best to assist.

Southampton has host of Hotels and B&B's options. The Isle of Wight is a popular holiday destination and thus also has several accommodation options. You will be required to find your own accommodation. You can access offered accommodation by following several of the above transport links. May I remind you that if you are claiming money thorough your sports and social club for accommodation an advisory level is set at around 50 pppn. We ask that you keep this in mind when choosing your accommodation.

Registration: I still have to confirm this with the organiser but it is likely to be on the race day as per the open race. You will get your race number at registration.

Please follow the links on Ryde Harriers website to take you to information abut the route.

Post Race Presentation:

You will be eligible for open prizes as well as Police awards. There is good prizes money for all categories. I have yet to confirm the exact location for the presentation and post race food but it will be close to the Open race presentation in Cowes. The open race organisers says that he aims to achieve a 1600hrs presentation time. Our presentation is likely to be immediately afterwards. This will give you some idea for your onward plans.

I look forward to receiving your entries.

Yours in sport.
