Briefing

At today’s date we have 350 runners entered for our race, we hope your training is going well, and we look forward to welcoming you all to Kent. Here are some joining instructions to assist your final travel preparations.

Tuesday 2 September

For those of you travelling to Kent on Tuesday 2nd, Race Registration and University Accommodation check-in will be open from 1200-2200 hours at the reception of Rutherford College.

Public Transport (trains)

We are providing shuttle mini buses between the Canterbury Rail Stations and the University on Tuesday 2nd, starting at 1200 hours. To avoid unnecessary delay for you at the station, please e-mail Roger Newson with expected arrival time in advance or phone or text 07989-992477 on the day, so a bus can meet you at the right station.

Wednesday 3 September

Registration

Accommodation Check-in only will be open at the reception of Rutherford College from 1000-1200 and post race.

All race registration on race day will be at the Race HQ, a marquee at Marine Parade Whitstable. Registration will open at 1100.

Changing

There are no changing facilities available at Whitstable, we do have a large marquee for the safe storage of bags, but you are advised to come ready to run.

For those travelling straight home after the race, we have an arrangement with the Whitstable Swimming Pool for showers (you will need a swimming costume though!).

Public Transport

Anybody using public transport on race day please contact Roger Newson in advance.

Directions

For both the Race Venue and the University use the M2 Coastbound to Junction 7 where the directions vary.

University – Leave the M2 at Junction 7, signed for the A2 Coastbound, Dover and Canterbury.

After approx 5 miles exit the A2 signed Canterbury, Harbledown (A28).

At the first roundabout, take 1st exit London Road.

At next (mini) roundabout, take 1st exit, Whitstable Road.

After 0.5 miles uphill, entrance to the University of Kent is on the right.

Follow the main road through the University to a roundabout, and then follow signs to Rutherford College parking.

Race Venue - At junction 7 M2 join the A299, signed Margate, Ramsgate. After 4 miles exit A299 signed B2205 Whitstable.

First roundabout - straight over.

Second roundabout -  straight over (A2990 Thanet Way).

Third roundabout (Tesco) - straight over (A2990 Thanet Way).

After 0.7 miles turn left (immediately before a pedestrian footbridge) into Foxgrove Road.

At end of Foxgrove Road turn right into Ham Shades Lane.

Cross Traffic light controlled narrow bridge.

Turn second left into Pier Avenue.

At second cross roads, Race Car Park is on your left.

Race venue and the sea are straight ahead

There is ample free street parking in streets adjacent to the start

Post Race - Mungos Bar in Eliot College, University of Kent will be open at 1830 hours.

Please be seated for 1930 hours for the Celebration Dinner in the Dining Hall at Eliot College.

Dress is lounge suit for gentlemen and equivalent for the ladies.
