Final Instructions - Course and Venue Maps

We look forward to welcoming you all to Llandudno.

Here are some joining instructions to assist your final preparations and travel.

Venue Cymru, The Parade, Llandudno, LL30 1BB - This is the location for Registration, race finish area and evening function. (See map below)

Race Start

1400 hours - Pier Gates - The Parade, Llandudno.

The Course

The race starts and finishes on the Promenade. Start at the Pier end, finish opposite Venue Cymru.  From the start you will run onto the Marine Drive, around the Great Orme to West Shore. On the outward leg with clear weather you will see a wonderful vista of Snowdonia opening up.

Once there you will turnaround and reverse the route back to the Promenade, continue along the Prom to the finish.Water stations will be at the Rest & Be Thankful Café both out and back, and at West Shore. (See map below)

Travelling

If you are travelling by public transport on Tuesday or Wednesday morning we can arrange transfer to your chosen accommodation, and likewise the return on Thursday.

However please advise us beforehand so we can make arrangements.

Call/text Craig on 07815 292213 to advise your arrival time/date, location and where you are staying. Also travel time for Thursday.

By Rail

Llandudno Railway Station is within easy walking distance of almost all accommodation in Llandudno so feel free to walk!

However, don’t get mixed up between Llandudno and Llandudno Junction, which is the main line station 5 miles out!  Llandudno Station is a spur off the mainline and is usual a short change over.

Parking

Plenty of pay and display parking at the rear of Venue Cymru. Beware; parking on the prom is also pay & display and the wardens are hot on time limits!  Free parking at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park across the road from rear of Venue Cymru.

Directions

Llandudno is located 3 miles off the A55 expressway.

Travelling from the North and East – Follow signs for the M56 west to Chester and North Wales. Then follow the A55 west (Conwy). Exit on to the A470, sign posted Llandudno.  Follow the A470 trunkroad into the town centre.

For Venue Cymru (LL30 1BB) – roundabout, turn right on to B5115 Clarence Crescent, continue towards the sea, second roundabout, 1st exit where you will find Venue Cymru on the on the left.

Travelling from the South – M6 north, M54, A483, A55 and thereafter as above.

Tuesday 15th September

For those of you travelling to North Wales on Tuesday 15th, Race Registration will be open from 1900-2100 hours at the reception of Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Race Day - Wednesday 16th September

Registration

Registration on race day will be at the Race HQ, Venue Cymru, Promenade. Registration will open at 1100 - 1330 hours.

Toilets

For those of you staying at hotels on or near the front you might chose to use their facilities. Or there are toilet facilities at Venue Cymru, which is 10 mins from the start.  Or another set located 2 mins jog from the start line, next to Parisellas Cafe at Happy Valley (follow the road opposite the Grand Hotel).

Spectators and supporters

For those of you bringing your own entourage to support you, I recommend driving part-way round the course on the Marine Drive to the Rest & Be Thankful Cafe.  It's about 4 miles into the course, plenty of parking, great views (on a good day!), and you can get a cuppa whilst watching your mates stagger past and past again. You could then just get back to the finish line. There is a £2 toll to take vehicles round the Marine Drive.

Alternatively if you're on foot you can easily walk from the start line to the turnaround point before the runners get there; and also will get back to the Prom again ready to see them finish on the finish straight.

Changing and kit hand-in

There are limited changing facilities available at Venue Cymru, but you are advised to come ready to run.

The start is approx 1km from the finish.  Apologies but unfortunately there are no shower facilities for those travelling straight home.

We will have a kit hand-in system available at the start if you have warm up/down clothing.  Bags and number stickers will be there to use and your kit will be safely transported back to the finish for collection.  Don’t leave it to the last second!

Prize-giving & Function

Prize giving and dinner will take place at Venue Cymru. Starts at 6pm.

The committee have decided to raise standards and as such the theme for the evening will be ‘BLACK TIE’ or ‘BLACK & WHITE’.

Obviously this is not compulsory, but we hope that you’ll join us. At least come with smart attire.

Hopefully that’s everything.  Any problems or questions just email.

Hope you have a great race and an enjoyable visit to North Wales.

Yours sincerely

Craig
