Welcome to the
Northern Police
Cross Country and Trail Leagues
The League formed in July 1967 and for over 57 years
has attracted runners from most of the police forces across the north of
England.
The league now stages 13/14 fixtures each season that starts in
early October through to late March. Each fixture attracts between 25 and 80
runners.
In recent years the league has gone from strength to
strength, despite the pressures of securing time-off from police duties. We
have recently added an 12th and 13th fixture that add a better chance to attend
the SIX required fixtures to score maximum points!
In 2026 it has been decided to allow other 'Services;' to participate competitively as opposed to being invited Guests.
Due
too falling numbers we decided to suspend the 'Trail' League. It was
felt that we may have too many fixtures on offer but will simply
continue to 'boulster' the original Winter Cross Country League.

NOTE: You
must enter the PSUK Race Directly and pay the respective additional
entry fee. You will score points from participation in the PSUK event.

Who Can Participate
Members of all 'Northern' Police Forces
listed below. Midlands Police and Services League members are invited
to our fixtures and visa versa with some being in the official fixture
calendar.
From 2026 members of the 'Services'
listed below will be able to participate as full competitors alongside
the police, rather than being invited guests as in previous years. They
may also compete for the various prize placings under their 'Service'
name.
Since 2021 spouse/partner/siblings of members may also compete alongside.

your Police Force or Services Secretary for more information.
Your Force representative who will liaise with you over
transport to attend each fixture or you may chose to travel direct.
We
now have an entry system and you may enter either singally or all 14
fixtures at the start of the season. Just follow the Book it Zone links
below.
It
is possible to enter your own local 'Host' fixture and not compete in
the other fixtures. You will just need to pay £6 on-line or pay on the
day. If you
intend to enter more than one fixture then we ask you complete a 14
fixture on-line entry that allows entry to as many fixtures as you
wish.
Note: The PSUK Nationals need to be entered separately and are NOT open tto 'Services' runners..

Fixture 1 - North Wales - 2 October 2026
A
big thank you to Nick Jones, Craig Jones and their team of helpers and
marshals for staging our first fixture of the season at Colwyn Bay
Police HQ. Fine sunny weather was had to compliment a very nice, but slightly muddy course with magnificent views of the coast. A good turn-out, with 34 competitors taking part. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported. The
ladies well dominated the front of the field! Eleanor Ashcroft (North
Wales) ran a magnificent race winning overall with Ben Garnett (North
Wales) 2nd. Kirstie Drakeford (Fire Service - Humberside) was 3rd
overall and Natalie Hewitt (Cheshire) 4th. Light
refreshments were served in the Police HQ Canteen afterwards with
prizes awarded to the North Wales Runners in their local Championships. Results are posted below. The next fixture will be hosted by Cumbria Police at Dalemain, on Wednesday 21 October 2026 - Details will be posted here soon. There are 13 more fixtures to go before the end of March so plenty to go for!

Family Guests Entry
We now permit Spouse/Partner and Siblings (over 18)
of an above defined 'police member' to participate. They compete in the
same race but only as a 'Guest Familiy Member' and pay the cheaper
entry fee but will not qualify for individual or team prizes.
They
may be defined by a Police Sports Club as an 'Honorary Member' so could
be entitled to claim their entry from the Club also.
